Without sounding like I live on the north shore ...
Manly beach was an incredibly comfortable 29 degrees today, with a beautiful coastal breeze. The only thing to complain about was that the water was actually too cold to swim in.
And Brown Brothers rose moscato is my new choice of drink, while their plain moscato is just as good if the former sells out (which it has been, all over Sydney). Perfect Saturday and Sunday drinking material.
In other news ...
I'm not going to complain about the sunburn I managed to get on my legs today (always forgetting about the legs) while 70+ people have died, and more will continue to, in Victoria.
It's not entirely crazy to think the Egyptians (and possibly other cultures?) worship the sun. It's doing its best to show its power and ferocity.
I am very sad for them (the Victorians, and also, the Egyptians)

union baby
First Super 14 rugby game of the season kids (union), at the SCG - all time favourite venue.
Great game, Waratahs v Brumbies (Sam's team) and NSW won.
Was strange to be watching rubgy in summer, but the boys had meat pies which rectified the problem.
Next game on Feb 21 and requires an overnight stay in Canberra. My team v Sam's team.
Bring on winter!

best friend gone
My best friend in the whole world, Tubby cat, died last Friday. It was very very sad. She came to Australia from NZ with our family, and was 14 years old.
Dad had to be with her at the vet when they put her to sleep, as Mum and I couldn't do it, and I would have been a mess. Someone had to be with her though - how terrible going to sleep forever and not seeing someone you love when you close your eyes.
Dad wasn't especially good at doing this either, and was still very very upset later that evening. It was a hard but easy decision to make. Tubby had kidney failure and diabetes, and would never have gotten better, and instead spent a very warm summer trying to keep drinking water, when it wouldn't have made any difference.
Tubby always knew when I was upset. I remember in my late teenage years, lying on my bed crying about some such injustice (breaking up with a boyfriend, or parents being parents) and Tubby would saunter (in a tubby/fat way, not a sexy way) into my bedroom, up onto the bed, and snuggle up with me.
I will miss her very much. She loved me and I loved her, and I was her favourite.
I have put a photo album on facebook in honour of Tubby.

Sundays
I think there is such thing as a perfect Sunday.
The only thing I would have done differently today is find an extra $50 and treat ourselves to brekkie out ... but I restrained myself since we're saving.
I have had a wonderfully relaxing day today, waking at 10.30 something, losing three hours somewhere, and then going for a 1 hr 15 min walk with Sam, in the aid of exercise.
We walked through Cammeray, Tunks Park, Northbridge up and down hills located alongside Sydney Harbour's water outskirts. It was a hard work, to undo all the naughty eating on the weekend (Sat night saw too many peices of pizza!)
We grabbed groceries on the way home (I love filling my fridge, fruit bowl and pantry with fresh food ready for cooking) and got home to enjoy a well earned shower, a 4pm bread roll for lunch, and to spend a lazy afternoon/evening with the following:
paper
cricket on TV (NZ are winning!)
a couple of foreign films on dvd
dim sims
rose (can't do the funky e to make it read rose-ay)
Tomorrow morning will include some early morning pilates before work.
And I've decided to rethink a coffee drought, and instead do some super hard work on the eating-well front, and exercising more (given that I just up-ed my gym membership on Friday, I am now expected there at least three times a week)
Yay for Sydney's summer, Sammy and Sundays.
